Gaia (pronounced 'GYE ah') comes from the Ancient Greek and is the primal Greek goddess personifying the Earth, the Greek version of "Mother Nature" or the Earth Mother.

Gaia is also a principle - an ecological hypothesis or theory that proposes that the biosphere and all of the physical components of the Earth are closely integrated to form a complex interacting system.  The hypothesis is frequently described as viewing the Earth as a single organism.  

As the name suggests, we hope to not only provide the highest quality and freshest coffee available anywhere, but also wish to do so under conditions that are environmentally sound and foster support and a greater understanding of coffee, and the many coffee growing regions and cultures of the world.
